Educational Qualifications
Candidates must be Graduate from recognized university with second division. The purpose of this academic requirement is that applicants have the needed background to be efficient in administrative roles.
- Candidates must be aged from 21 to 30 years old as at 1st January 2024. However, certain exceptions apply:
- Up to age 35 years, federal or provincial government applicants serving a minimum of 4 years may be eligible.
- Punjab Civil Servants Recruitment Rules allow for a maximum relaxation of 15 years in the upper age limit to special persons.
- Domicile and Gender
- Male, female and transgender belonging to Punjab domicile are eligible as candidates of all genders. Literally this inclusive approach has given equal opportunity to all sections of the society.
- Examination Process
- Written Examination
- Examination is done simultaneously at different cities of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G. Khan, Faisalabad and Sargodha. The written test consists of 6 papers for 600 marks, having compulsory and optional subjects.
- Compulsory Subjects
- English Essay: Assessing candidate’s ability to write and express properly.
- English (Precis, Comprehension, and Translation): Measuring how much comprehension and language proficiency.
- Urdu (Essay, Precis, Comprehension, and Translation): Testing the ability to speak the national language.
- Islamic Studies/Ethics: But, for non-Muslim candidates, offering the choice between Islamic Studies or Ethics.
- Pakistan Studies: Presents the history, culture and geography of Pakistan.
- General Knowledge: Coverage of candidates’ awareness and understanding.
Optional Subjects
To choose 3 optional subjects out of 3 out of each group (A to G) with 100 marks each from each group. The PPSC website provides a syllabus of optional subjects.
NOTE: ii) The minimum standard of the question papers will be of Graduate Level.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
a) Candidates shall have to secure 40 percent marks in every paper and 50 per cent in aggregate, i.e. 600 marks, to qualify for the interview. A candidate after that will get 50 % marks in the interview which is to be held.
b) No alteration/addition/deletion/change will be made in optional subjects mentioned at the time of submission of online application form and no representation in this regard will be entertained.
c) Finally rejected if online application forms in the online application form contains incomplete/wrongly filled out optional subjects. This issue will be represented no further.
d) No change in the priority or selection of examination centers shall be allowed.
e) If at any stage, the Commission receives a request of variation in number of post(s) the same shall be accepted without inviting fresh applications. At PPSC it is reflected through variation in number of post(s).
In Psychological Assessment and Interview
Candidates who pass the written exam go on to the applicants’ psychometric test and interview stage worth 200 marks. The second phase tests the candidates for psychological suitability and communication skills to work in administrative roles.
Important Instructions
- In objective (MCQ) of General Knowledge, each wrong answer will deduct 0.25 mark.
- There is a choice between Islamic Studies or Ethics for non Muslim candidates.
- Candidates must score 40 per cent marks in each paper and 50 per cent in aggregate to qualify for the interview stage.
- It is very important to make sure that any changes or errors made during application related to the optional subjects which have been chosen have not been considered.
- Once selected, the examination centers cannot be changed so as to facilitate logistical efficiency within the examination process.
